When kids are present, adults don't get much opportunity for hands on, but it is still an interesting museum. You can find it by going down towards the Rhine from the St Albany tour. On the way you pass a segment of the other city wall.

this is a very good museum to visit in Basel. You will learn many things by seeing the exhibits and doing many things by yourself. I tried paper making, and compared with that experience with the Japanese paper making I experienced many, many years ago. I discussed the subject with the staff member, and he answered my questions very properly.... More

This museum takes you through all aspects of paper making and book binding. A must-see for the avid reader. Many hands-on activities, including paper making, bookbinding, penmanship, marbling paper for end sheets, etc. Great experience for all ages

My nephew and I visited on Museum Night so it was pretty busy but well worth the visit. It really is a fascinating place to see...who knew that paper could be so interesting! There are several floors and plenty to see and do, including making your paper. There are examples of some of the earliest written texts and old printing... More

I keep visiting this museum and find it amazing each time. You can make paper, learn how to write with a quill pen and then get it sealed by wax stamp. Then you can create amazing pictures as well. Staff speaks fluent English and provide all the assistance and support you might need. Love this place! Even after the 3rd... More

Well worth a visit, plenty of hands on activities for the kids. The building itself is interesting enough, but combine that with a process driven narrative, from paper, to printing, to binding, and then through in the fact that they are actively using the "exhibits" to produce commercial output, and you have a great sustainable and engaging museum. The water... More

The building itself is a sight to see, wonderful on every floor. English descriptions are available at every display, and there are several workshops that you can take part in that are included in the entry fee. The displays are not only beautiful, but very educational. This museum provides a renewed interest in paper making and printing history. Great for... More

I absolutely love taking visiting family and friends to this museum. I have gone several times now, and have enjoyed the experience each time. Everyone who works at the museum speaks English and is very friendly, and the exhibits are all in three languages. Each floor offers an interactive exhibit, including calligraphy, paper making, embossing, and marbling. So, so fun!... More
