The cathedral has some impressive stained glass. You have to exit the cathedral to get to the cloister that overlooks the Rhine and one of the antique drift ferries that crosses it.

We visited this on a city tour of Basel with Viking River Cruise. Unique church with a mixture of Gothic and Romanesque features. Constructed of red sandstone that is abundant in the area. No cost to enter. If you are in the Basel area, it would be a good place to visit

By far the highlight of Basel. In truth there is not a huge amount to see in the city but this Münster and the surrounding square are lovely. Well worth going up the tower for the lovely views. Cost €18 for 3 adults and one student. Overall, Basel is not worth much more than a few hours.

Like most tall churches in Switzerland, the Basle Münster is worth visiting even if it is just for the view you'll enjoy from the top of its bell tower. To get to see it you'll have to climb up a rather marvellously dark and precarious ancient staircase, which is not to be recommended if you're suffering from vertigo. Being in... More

Its so high that you can see the whole city. Very nice views and highly recommended to go on top. You can view the beautiful lake which is on the back of the munster. A must see.

Amazing place. At our visit they held an art exibition inside a silent yard next to the church itself. Behind is an observation area with amazing view over city and Rhine. You can see a small model of Münster there as well. You can buy drinks at one if the historic restaurants in the church square or rest in a... More

Every European town has their fantastic scenic gothic cathedral and munster is Basels. This is well worth checking out as the building itself is a scene to behold in its beauty, particularly when you marbel that it was built hundreds of years ago long before any modern equipmwnt existed.
