A must do if you visit Basel - you can even incorporate them into your own zig-zag tour of the city (there are several on the Rhine in Basel). Around 2 CHF per person. Good alternative to walking to the other side on a hot day.

We decided we'd try this way to cross the river rather than walking over the bridge and it was brilliant. Quick and easy. A smooth rise and easy to get on and off the boat. It made it a simple journey to go and explore the opposite side of the town

The Basel ferry system harnesses the powerful Rhine current to cross the river. There are a number of crossing points, each with its own boat, which in turn has its own personality. If the boat is on the opposite bank when you arrive at the dock, simply ring for it. Reduced operating hours in winter. Fate must be paid in... More

The four ferries crossing the Rhine at different points through the center of Basel are a wonderful way to see the city from a different angle, as well as to appreciate the power of water. When the Rhine is low, the journey across the river takes a lot longer than when the Rhine is flowing faster - and like all... More

You have to do all four of them. Each cruise gives you a great view of the city, with an ancient, non-polluting way of travelling. On one of them you can book for a fondue evening as well! Enjoy... great with children as well!

You can enjoy the view from Gross Basel to the Rhein Promenade and going from Klein Basel look at the other side, especially the Three Kings Hotel, it looks fantastic.

It appears this trip across the river always comes close to one of the top things to do in Basel and while it is nice enough, I would not consider it a "can't miss." Nevertheless for 1.60 you will enjoy a pleasant journey across the Rhine. Again, it is quick and lovely, but I would not rearrange my agenda just... More

I've been on this ferry twice to cross the river. It's quick, cheap, and you get a different perspective of the city from down below. I highly recommend it if you want to take a quick break from walking. Think about it. How often do you get the chance to ride on a boat across the Rhein? The experience is... More
