The bears were active even on the super hot day we were there. One bear took a swim in their little pool attached to the river. It was fun watching the bears roaming around their compound, surrounded by the beautiful, ancient walls of the city.

I had to visit a couple of times to se the bears , they were either asleep in the wild bit or in the feeding area . Patience pays off and if you are lucky you will see the bears at play. Interesting to find...More

It takes some luck to get a good view of the bears, either in the original bear pit or in the expanded habitat along the river. Even with that, it's well worth walking to for the great views of the old town looking back across...More

We were just walking through the city and found this park. Its interesting how much historic this town is and how bears are part of it. This park has 4 bears in it and a nice park view with the town in the background.

We found the fact that there were real live bears living naturally in a large city fascinating. The very large enclosure was an excellent home for the family of bears, who seemed to be healthy and content. The public could get very close to the bears....More

Was a bit worried to hear there were bears in the city, thought the enclosure would be small but it's bigger than they would probably get in any zoo and it looks well laid out. The bears are beautiful and look very healthy. There is...More

You can see bears swimming and eating and playing from about 5m away! It's free, easy to get to, and right below the loveliest bar in Bern. What more do you want?!?!
