We decided to drive towards Bern last minute from Zurich. We should have gone to Milan, but that Saturday the Pope would have been there, so the city would be on lockdown, because of the massive security and impossible to spend some decent time in. This said, Bern has been a nice discovery. Very fascinating from the first moment, the... More

The Bern old town is beautiful, clean, full of shops and restaurants. It is a great place for tourists, spend leisure time or do some shopping. The views are incredible, buildings renovated and look brand new. Place worth visiting.

Take a day and and wander the streets. Cross the bridge to the Einstein museum then turn left and follow the paths/streets to the bear park and back across that bridge. Beautiful old city.

The old town is a great place. You will see very nice houses and also plenty of boutiques. Most of the streets are for pedestrian only. Some boutiques are located below the street and you enter them through a type of shelter entrance. The ambiance is really relax and pleasant. Simply pay attention to teams and buses.

A totally feel good experience, it's the cosiest capital you can imagine. Stroll along or under the arcades of the three main streets throgh the old town. Don't miss the square behind the cathedral, it has a stunning view, a small cafe and is the perfect place for a beer in the sun. And have a go for the market,... More

You can walk down the Kramgasse and drink a hot chocolate in one of the restaurants. Enjoy it during winter and with snowy weather because there is the possibility to walk under the buildings but also during summer and spring is beautiful with lots of flowers all around town.

If you walk the main street from the train station down to the Bärengraben/Nydeggbrücke area, it feels like you travel in time. You start in a lively, modern city centre with highstreet shopping, but the further you go, the more 'niche' the shops get, the older the arcades, the more medieval the buildings. I'd recommend to anyone that they walk... More

Walking around the old city you feel like you have stepped straight into a children's picture book, one of the pretties city's I've ever visited. Very small and can easily walk around in a day
