Not the most exciting museum as it is mainly made up of documents, letters, portraits but the free audio guide and plaques provide copious details on the history and founding fathers of Protestantism. During the 500th anniversary they have a replica of the Gutenberg printing...More

The MIR (Museum of the Reformation) was founded in 2005. In the 16th century, John Calvin set out to turn Geneva into a model way for living the Christian life. I was quite irritated that the MIR would not allow any photography (even without flash).

This is the kind of museum where you learn some history, and the presentation is probably more important than the artifacts. There are some artifacts, but you might see such manuscripts and documents in other museums. The audio-visual presentations are what are most important here,...More

This small museum gives a real sense of what it was like then, somehow. There are lots of genuine documents to see, books of the time. For me, it might be the most memorable visit I made in Geneva, this plus the Wall of the...More

From the viewpoint of someone interested purely in history I found first 3/4 of it interesting, especially the temporary exhibition on Gutenberg printing press. But the modern period not so much, it felt more like "come join our faith". But maybe that was just me....More

As others have noted, this is a small museum but it is packed with displays. The audio doesn't explain every display but if it did you might be there for 4 hours instead of two. Language tours are available but can get very crowded--20+ which...More

This very large museum tells the story of the fathers of the Reformation. This story is pivotal in the history of Switzerland and is a must see for church history buffs. The museum is quite large, but we found the displays disorganized. Although every display...More

This was a very interesting museum even though it was small. We were given units to listen to information at our own pace. It has a fun hands on printing press. Basement was a little odd - but interesting.

Not a great experience. The first set of numbers on the audio guide did not match the numbers on the exhibits. The movement from one room to the other did not always flow. Not enough emphasis on the factors that shaped Feral and Calvin. There...More
