CERN, in Geneva, is the world’s largest particle physics research centre. CERN has recently brought into service the world’s most powerful accelerator, the LHC (Large Hadron Collider), which will provide new insights into the Universe and how it evolved.

The entire Universe is made up of particles. But where do they come from? What laws govern their behaviour? The purpose of the "Universe of particles" exhibition is for visitors to confront the great questions of contemporary physics : a journey to the Big Bang.

To visit CERN you have to book visit 3-4 days in advance, however it is worth doing. Site visit to closed and operational labs is guided by real practicioners. During our visit it was even possible to visit underground part of labs, the ATLAS detector.

Take the tram out to CERN, it is well worth the visit. Learn more of our origins and the big bang theory. Also, learn of the great work going on into anti-matter and the amazing collider. You will not be sorry you visited. Note you must book in advance

I went here twice: first with my 80+ year parents, and a few weeks later with a 20-something nephew and three of his friends. I must say: everybody was pleasantly surprised by CERN's ability to explain and make accessible the work they do here in fundamental physics. Their exhibitions are very well done, and explain in a good way what... More

It is definitely worth visiting if you're in Geneva! Tours available in French and English. I went with 2 other people, we took the English tour guide, amazing experience. They showed us also 2 movies about the place, and they where awesome graphics displays on the old accelerators there. Must go!

We made a special trip as one of our sons is studying Physics in University. The exhibit area is very interesting but smaller than expected. The facility tour was informative - especially for our son. If you have a high degree of interest in science or physics I would recommend it but it is probably too specialized otherwise.

If you have nothing to do in Geneva, which you would anyway then 20 min tram ride to the CERN is good way spend some time. The museum is big as I expected but gives you an insight of what happens there

If you have interest in physics this is your place ! Very interesting information ! There is an amazing metal figure outside. When you get to the station you will notice. You have to go to the big wood building. But at the end there is another part crossing the street!
