Walking along the grand promenade we saw a most impressive bench upon which to take a relaxing break.
At a record 120 metres in length it is thought to be the longest bench in the world. It was accomplished in 1774 by placing numerous benches end to end. Since then it has been revamped a number of times.
Fine vistas of the surrounding city are another plus of this area.

Was walking towards the park when we came across these benches along the way. The view from the benches overlooking the city and the park is lovely. There is also a small playground for kids here. Nice place to chill and enjoy the view.

The longest wooden bench in the world is easy to find. Locate the large Cathedral Saint-Pierre Geneva and go west along one of the alleys. We actually went to the tourist office not far from the train station and received a map and directions. The bench is birched along a low bluff. This green bench was first made in 1767 and is over 400 feet/120 meters long.
We actually saw it first on a USA TV show called “The Amazing Race.” The contestants had to count on how many ‘newspapers” it took to sit across the bench. You can actually see why many of the contestants did not get the answer on the first try. Today, the newspaper vendor is gone and the place is fairly quiet.

Really there is not much about this attraction other than a great little park where grownups and kids alike share a spin on the roundabout or the swings... so bring a picnic or play :)

After walking around the city for hours you definitely deserve a good break by sitting down on one of the worlds longest benches. It is located at the Parc des Bastions, on the top part of the Reformation Wall and you can sit back, relax and enjoy the views from the hills. There are a lot of chestnut trees around providing you with the ideal photo opportunity. I would suggest you dont miss this attraction as its quiet relaxing place for you to re-energize. The tram station is just outside the Parc des Bastions gate and you will get a tram to Geneva station every 15 mins.

This is a good spot to get a different look at the City of Geneva from the Old town. Overlooking the Parc des Bastions/Place Neuve but also offering great views of the Salève mountain, it is my daily commute walking route and it never ceases to impress by any type of weather. If you are visiting the Old town, you will no doubt most likely either enter or exit the Old town walking by this area.

...not just because it is the longest bench in the world, and so that alone merits a visit, but especially since getting there forces you through the prettiest parts of Geneva- the old town and the Parc des Bastions. And finally, plenty of room for all on this bench... and what a lovely message in the city meant to be the global humanitarian capitol.

When my husband and I found out that the longest bench in the world is situated in Geneva, we had to visit while on holiday here in December.
It's pretty centrally located, a short walk from the Saint-Pierre Cathedral and Maison Tavel and in a lovely square. We visited quite late in the evening and, while dark, we could still see the lovely view.
I would definitely recommend visiting this lovely square and having a rest on the bench.

this garden and sightseeing place is amazing.
The view to the city is really beautiful and the bench apart from huge is very curious.
Also there is funny story that one local lady told us while we were there wondering.
There is this tree that is the official sprinc tree, meaning there's a person from the city hall that checks this tree around spring time, when the first leafe starts coming out it marks the beginning of the spring.
The garden is very central and accessible.

This is the longest bench in the world. It is on a hill above the Reformation Wall. Nice place to sit and the view is good.
