I have walked this trail climbing from Alpiglen and walking down towards Alpiglen and must say I prefer the journey upwards. Watch out for the mountain cattle who like to come and lick you given a chance. There are lots of places to sit and eat a picnic but watch out for base jumpers who jump off the mushroom rock... I am aware, that there are over 200 entries to this walk in TripAdvisor. Threfore I will give you tips out of our experience from just a few days ago: . We recommend to walk up from Alpiglen to Eigergletscher (not down from Eigergletscher to Alpiglen) . Start not too early, otherwise more or less all of the walk will... More

I have a ridiculous fear of steep down or uphill inclines/declines. I do not have a fear of heights. Yes there were a couple of hairy bits but if I can do this trail, anyone can. I did have my poles thank goodness. The scenery was breathtaking and the magnificence of the Eiger outweighs any fear issues. Just do it!

Probably my favorite hike in the region. I went on a clear day that was not too hot (clear so you can see the mountains and not too hot because the entire trail is exposed). Beautiful hike, trail impeccably maintained. Much of the trail is fairly narrow with somewhat steep hillsides dropping off, so some hiking experience is good. I'm... More

We walked the trail downhill from Eigergletscher Station to the mid-station at Alpiglen. It's across scree slopes at first but then gets easier on a well-laid path. The trail is easy to follow and the views down the valley are absolutely awesome. The North Face is so impressive up close. Later in the walk there are some cool waterfalls and... More

Starting from the Eigergletscher Station it is a pleasant hike just below the Eigernordwand with huge sights to Grindelwald and Männlichen. Good gear required. If you like to avoid the descend of almost 800m you can start at Alpiglen and climb to the Eigergletscher station. Calculate approx 3 hours for this tour.

Easy 2 hour trek from Klein Scheidegg to the mid-rail station or 3.5 hours to Grindelwald. Spectacular views of the North Face

Some effory. Not hard, not a stroll. I recommend walking sticks, but thats just me. Check weather, probable not wise to hike in rain. Crowded when weather nice. Its the north face of the Eiger!

We took the train from Grindelwald to Alpiglen and then hiked the Eiger Trail through to Wengen. It's a beautiful hike with fantastic views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau along the way. There are also many lovely waterfalls.
