Walked to this lake after a trip in a gondola to First. A pleasant walk not too arduous about 1 hour each way, and well signposted. Weather was a little overcast so lake was not at its best for photographs or what would have be...More

20 minutes up the First gondola to the top and then we started the '50 minute' walk to the lake. It's my first walking holiday and first time in the Swiss mountains so it was harder than I thought. The first 20 minutes is uphill...More

Once on top at First you can take the trail to Bachalpsee lake, a good path and while it climbs it's so worth the effort. Great place to then walk on to Waldspitz and then Bort returning by cable car. Good cafe on route and...More

Stopped at Bachalpsee Lake on our way from Faulhorn back to Berghaus Bort. It was later in the day and very beautiful. Went for a quick swim, it was "refreshing" but felt great. Not too busy and about 45 min from First.

Despite the poor weather, we hiked out to the lake. It was a gorgeous location with beautiful views. Well worth the 45 minutes.

Looking for a WOW spot? This is it. We got engaged here on a beautifully clear day overlooking snow covered Alps. Seriously beautiful.

Standard lake tarn, nothing you wouldn't see in England. Seems overly hyped by the tourists who simply catch the cable cars everywhere for photos yet don't do any actual hiking.

Was here 10 years ago and enjoyed the serenity and tranquility of the lake. Back here again and still as beautiful as before. Only regret is that in early Jun, the lake is still partially covered by ice so not able to get the complete...More

Very easy to just show up. I believe it begins running around 8 and last one at 6 pm. I would recommend starting as early as possible.
