Words cannot do this place justice. This short walk is an unforgettable experience. It is a little "off-the-beaten-path," but it's worth it. Via a 1.5km long, well constructed wooden platform, the short hike offers multiple once-in-a-lifetime photo ops.

AAre Gorge- Wow what a place!!! Happened to find it out from one of the TA reviewers. Worth the visit... We took a train from Zurich HB and got down at Merningen & took the connecting train[ a cute train with limited seats :) ] to the falls.. We got down at the Aareschlucht West and energised ourselves with amazing... More

We had originally planned to hike in the Jungfrau region, but do to rain and dense fog we didn't want to spend the money on the train and not be able to see anything anyway. We decided to visit the Aareschlucht instead. Great decision even on a rainy day. We hiked back on the path over the mountain, but probably... More

We started from the town end. Try and return on the train which runs parallel with the gorge but in tunnel !

We were in Europe for six weeks and I will say our visit to the Aareschlucht (Aare Gorge) was one of our favorite days of the entire vacation. Neither photos nor words can describe how much fun and wonderful this gorge is. We took it from the far (east) entrance to the west entrance. A small local train takes you... More

A group of us came here on a rainy day which was a good activity because the walk through the gorge is decently covered and the views are still spectacular.

A fabulous wonder of nature - take loads of pics and camcorder while there on the walkways. A good long walk, affordable and free parking with a decent visitor centre. Highly recommended.

I have been here now 4 times in all, with various friends and my wife too. It never wears or loses its wonder. The place is just amazing, a natural wonder. A long walk along the gorge with rushing waters to the far end, and then retrace your steps back. The visitor centre is attractive and with much to recommend... More

Located just outside of Meiringen, Aare Gorge is a short but very worthwhile excursion which is suitable for all ages and abilities. Best to come after some rainfall to see the full effect of both the surging river and the waterfall.
