We loved walking around and exploring Chur. In my opinion one night is more than enough to explore. We stayed here for the convenience of catching a train in the AM.

It was a nice area with nice buildings. You can walk around the old town for 1 to 2 hours and you can go shopping or taste food.

We stopped here waiting to catch the train to Arrosa and it is a rwasonably nice place although near the station there is currently a lot of building work being carried out and that is anything but attractive. That said the old town is better...More

Very quaint town but not one for youngsters . Very quiet in the evening and only few restaurants open in evening after 8 .

Spent two hours including lunch wandering around the old town of Church. Noted as one of the oldest towns in Switzerland the central town has much charm with it older buildings and town squares. The two churches of note are the Protestant and Catholic churches....More

I stopped in Chur for two days primarily to visit its Roman ruins (small area) and take the Brambuesch up to hike and for a photo op (trying out new camera settings). This city (or area) is the oldest settlement (4000 years) in Switzerland. It...More

Maybe I'm getting jaded because I've travelled quite a bit, but we were very disappointed in this Altstadt in Chur. It look pretty sanitized and upgraded--not the feel of an Old Town at all. We found primarily modern shops and restaurants. We visited St. Martin's...More

Lucky my hotel is located in this area. It just a short stroll to explore the area. Preserved old building and surrounding area combined nicely with shops, restaurants and cafe. Also churches, museum and friendly locals. All blend together made this old town became a...More

I am not familiar with the ABC Hotel. However, last year we stayed at Hotel Post. It's convenient to the railway station, and to the old town, and to all the various restaurants etc. The staff were incredibly helpful... More

We arrive in Tirano about mid afternoon by train from Venice on 30 April, 2015. Overnight in Tirano then Bernina Express to Chur on 1st May. Next day 2nd May we take train to Zurich for overnight before flight to Paris in the afternoon about 5PM on 3rd May. My questions: Stay in Tirano and get the 3PM "Bernina Express" train arriving Chur 19:03 (what do we do in Tirano for the morning/early afternoon) if we have been there the previous afternoon.,? OR Take an earlier train from Tirano: The Rhb Website shows the earlier train from Tirano to Chur as R, RE (WITH TWO CHANGES). So will it would appear not to be The Bernina Express. Part of our BIG TRIP is to be the Bernina Express Trip. As we will each have a suitcase and handluggage, I am not keen on changing trains, howerver, would like to arrive in Chur to have time to look around the Town before we take the train in Zurich next day (we are flexible with time but have hotel booking in Zurich on 2 May. So more to see in Chur or Tirano?? Realise all opinions are different. We are active oldies and love walking around and looking at old towns, buildings, have a coffee, wine etc. Thank you for any help
