The Piazza Grande is overrated in the tour books. But it is easy to reach and is worth a stroll if only to see the shops and people. Moreover, since the central part of Locarno is so small, one really can't help but walk through...More

Stroll under the loggias, as walking on the cobblestones in the square is extremely difficult. Interesting building architecture along one side of the piazza. Several cafes along the same side. When we were there the piazza was completely empty. I understand there is a Thursday...More

Yes, it's fairly big, but really nothing special. There is very nice mini-supermarket called "Coop" that is prevalent in Switzerland. I got two of the best subs ever there and for Switzerland they were incredibly reasonable and they were big, to boot. Perhaps if it...More

The Moon and Stars festival was awesome in this Piazza. We saw Jack Johnson and Milky Chance together and the setting was spectacular. Great venue for a show like this. After leaving Piazza Grande we wandered through the freely accessible areas of the festival, with...More

Impressive square, maybe it comes to life at night or when there is an event on here? Surrounded by restaurants. Don’t think we saw it at its best?

This place reflects more than just a pedestrian area. It is a time stamp of the past, old architecture of the finest. Take a walk, look up the buildings, look down at the old style pavement. Walk up the small roads in to the old...More
