The trip to Monte Bre was a beautiful experience. It was so funny to go by the Funiculare from where you a wonderful sight over the small villages on the mountain. The view is even better from the top of the mountain. I can really...More

We chose to go by car but you can go by funicular. The view on the TOP is mesmerising and there is small cafe. Outstanding view. Loved it.

Took the funicular to the top of monte bre, absolutely fantastic views of Lugano and surroundings, two restaurants at the peak and lots of walking trails, well worth the trip

The Monte Bre is much better than San Salvatore; reachable by car or bus. Hiking is easy; no crowd and clean preserved site. Plus a view on the Swiss Alps for memorable pictures.

Not sure about Castagnola. But I took bus 12 from Lugano centro and stop at Roccolo. Then it’s a 2 mins walk to the funicular up to Monte Bre.
