We visited the pass whilst staying in a nearby valley in Switzerland. On the day we visited the top of the pass, which is at 2500m, was in cloud and 4 degrees, however the low cloud added to the feeling of being somewhere special. I...More

This is the longer way to cross the border from Italy to Switzerland (adds about 40 minutes to the trip) but the crossing is breathtaking and worth the detour. Once at the top you can see across the mountains and on a clear day the...More

Thinking of the Napoleonic and the Roman troops congested going up hill like caterpillars and the 20 meters of snow in winter, the wind and the -30oC is a heroic context. Now from spring to autumn this pass is open, manageable in terms of slope...More

Came here with our girls on our summer holiday. It was along drive from chamonix in France but was worth it. The drive was great fun with some fantastic views. When we arrived it was very cold and windy, so remember to pack a warm...More

From start to finish this is a great road ! The scenery the whole way up and down is simply stunning. The road itself winds up and down to the pass and you have every type of bend possible ! Highly recommended !

A beautiful drive though the valleys and snow covered peaks on the background. A part of the pass has a tunnel which is partly closed and partly open. The open part of the tunnel looks quite like a balcony on the side of the mountain,...More

If you are in the area you have to drive this pass, it is worthwhile doing even if only going to the top and back down again. If driving to Italy, the only reason to take the tunnel is bad weather. Don't miss out.
