Mother nature does not disappoint. The Matterhorn stands out among its peers in the Pennine Alps as a pyramid shaped mountain. This is not to discount the beauty of the surrounding mountains, but you really are in awe of the Matterhorn when you catch it while walking through town in Zermatt or while hiking nearby.

And listening to the male part of the couple explaining how the Matterhorn was formed and the hut witch is base... More

Fantastic hike, views, food. If you go first thing in the morning you can sit and have lunch and watch the real climbers returning.

We visited in June. The weather was perfect and I think we took 500 pictures. We just could not stop taking photos. This is definitely a must-do on your trip to Zermatt.

Amazing views and great facilities. A once in a lifetime trip but well worth it. The views are breathtaking from the cable car station.

While it might hide behind the clouds for a few days it's well worth the wait once it comes out! Make sure you give ourself time for a visit to Zermatt if the Matterhorn is your priority as viewing can be very unpredictable weather wise.

We got the train up (€22.50 each one way with a swiss travel pass) and walked down. The walk took 4 hours including stops for photos. Beautiful scenery and fresh air. We are not very fit and are not at all experienced hikers but we managed the walk down without any problems. The terrain is not too steep and we... More
