So unlike some of the better known passes this one was totally open and totally deserted!! The best drive of my life. Scenery epic, hairpins epic, snow covered peak epic. Do this pass is you’re in Switzerland

We drove this is a snow storm but we fortunate to have it cleared on e way down. The pass is littered with tiny alpine villages which are lit up festively at night. There are some lovely walks along the pass which are well signposted.

An incredibly scenic drive. Also great for push biking and motor biking. Be aware that some parts of the road are fairly narrow, and towards the beginning of winter the poles that prevent falling over the edge are removed.

We picked this pass since it has less car and motorcycle traffic then the other well known transit passes in Switzerland. The beginning from Altdorf up to Schächen is a normal road. After that it is a steep, narrow and windy uphill all the way...More

Heading up the Linthal Valley from isolated Glarus, we began our drive on one of Switzerland’s longest passes. The trek tok us past alpine lakes, remote farms and desolate areas. The two-lane road was loaded with hairpin curves. As we were swinging & swaying, we...More

This is a road you want to drive when the weather is good and the traffic light. There are sections on the Altdorf side that are narrow ledges with little room for error. In these sections, the curves can be a bit blind, and you...More

I have not much to say about it. Only to recommend it and to give one tip: get yourself a 4x4 car with at least 200HP and enjoy the ride! Please, please don't make the mistake I made with the Golf 1.4...

You can't help but marvel at Swiss engineering once you have driven this (and I'm sure many other) Swiss mountain roads. The village of Klausen is in a mountain valley with some breathtaking mountain views all around, drive for another 15 minutes and you are...More

This pass has less tourist, cars and motorbikes than the furka, grimsel or susten passes. The roads are also less wide. They are narrower than the other passes. It also seems to be a higher drive. This pass has rockery views as well as greenery...More

Well, all that I can say is to keep track on the weather forecast. I'm sure that it will be closed if there is snow or the air is still deep in minus because it will be really unsafe to drive through. I wish you luck. And I... More
