This is a huge cavernous church with very special bell tower. There are very many steps to climb up to the top of the bell tower but the views you get up there are worth every step of the way! We were very fortunate to...More

In comparison in other counties sacral monument places Lausanne cathedral seems to be rather sad and empty place. Perhaps joining guided tour could change my impression as I visited it myself. Free entrance was an advantage.

The Cathedral was closed when I got there Friday morning. There was a sign that it was reopening at 2:00 PM, but I missed my chance to see the inside. The outside is lovely, especially at night from our room!

In comparison to Italy or Spain's cathedrals, this is far less impressive. It has magnificent view from outside, but inside does not impress at all.

We walked in to the cathedral just as a service was about to begin. The service was simple, the pastor gentle and the gathered devout. After the service, walked around reading the different elements about the church.

It's a lovely church with fascinating mixture of styles indicating various historical periods. Do pay to go up the tower. If you have any interest in history or want a great view it's worth the climb.
