We travelled only a part of tour or from Interlaken to Montreux. The train passes through a very scenic beauty. It's worth the journey. You can plan while visiting the places on route . Ensure you have Swiss pass or proper tickets Reservations not necessary

We took the entire golden pass line from Luzern to Montreux, which involved two changes. The pictured, scenic train is the last leg from Zweisimmem to Montreux. The first leg is the most scenic and the SBB carriages have large windows and an on board...More

The views of the countryside, lakes and mountains are purely breathtaking. We upgraded to first class seats and had excellent views. This is definitely the way to travel between locations in Switzerland.

This train was our second tourist train on our 15 day Swiss holiday. We had amazing 1st class seats (at extra cost) right at the front of the train, Montreux to Zweissimmen, enroute to Interlaken. The driver was above us. Look for availability of these...More

From Luzern to Interlaken sit on the right side of the train for better views. I read somewhere that left is good but I feel right is even better if you want to enjoy views of the lake. As such both are nice and you’ll...More

We planned our trip for this train ride. Imagine our disappointment to see all the windows from the top panoramic windows to the side windows were dirty. So we didn’t take many pics but enjoyed the views as much as we could.

I figured out how to buy the seat reservation directly from the GoldenPass Line site but this seat reservation does not cover the cost of the ticket. Do I just buy a first class ticket once I get to Lucerne and then use the seat reservation ticket in conjunction with the first class ticket to ride in the GoldenPass coach? The seat reservations are $10 per seat and does not include the price of transportation. A regular first class ticket on the train is normally $97. There are some seats available at the moment for the late morning trains from Lucerne to Interlaken but not that many and especially not on the right side of the coach. Other posters have mentioned that you do not need advance reservations for train tickets but it looks to me like I need to have seat reservations in advance if I want to sit in the GoldenPass car, otherwise, they will be sold out. They are about 50% full now and I want to travel on the 3rd of OCT 21018. If my first paragraph describes what is necessary to travel in the GoldenPass coach(purchase a seat reservation PLUS buy a first class ticket), then the price is a lot less than booking some kind of tour. It comes out to a total of $107.(one way), which is a savings of about $100 over a tour. We just want to go from Lucerne to Interlaken and then turn around and come back, same day. Maybe just have lunch in Interlaken. Any help you can offer would be great.
