From the Rochers-de-Naye, towering at an altitude of 2,042 meters, you can enjoy an amazing view on the lake and the mountains. Get to this peace of heaven with the cog railway leaving from Montreux. Many activities as well as two restaurants, an hotel and Mongolian yurts will give real pleasure to adults and children all the year long.

The weather was on our side. The train ride provided amazingly breathtaking views. I recommend taking a train as early in the morning as possible because it starts to get cloudy around 11am at the top.

From the Montreux train station, go to the dedicated counter (not the main SBB/CFF counter) where they sell the tickets for that specific ride (1st level at the far end). There are no lift to access the track on that end so you might take...More

The traditional cog train from the main station in Montreaux takes you up to Rocher-de-Naye in about 55 minutes. There are amazing views along the way, but when you get to the top it is simply sensational. You can easily walk about to the alpine...More

We drove up to Caux, which is located above Montreux. From the pitoresque station of Caux we took the cog railway all the way up to the top of Rochers-de Naye. Beautiful trainride with very nice views, but very expensive and very busy in summer...More

Geography at its best... Go for a wander to the alpine garden, august is like spring in the UK up there... Wrap up too, it's cool and the breeze can quickly turn into a gale. Best view of lake Geneva by far.

Do not hike unless you are super fit. If you have the 3-day Swiss Travel Pass (costs about 220 Francs as I recall for unlimited travel on mainline routes) , then the train fare from Montreux will be 26 Francs, and kids... More
