This is a very quaint Swiss village on the shores of Lake Geneva. They have a great Christmas Market that was beautiful but in day and night. The vendors offered a wide variety of wares and the food was also delicious.

We walked up from our hotel to the Old Town's winding roads, not particularly to look for anything but just to take in the architecture and churches and wonderful views. It's not incredibly steep but we spent an hour or so wandering up through the area and finding wonderful vantage points for pictures of the lake from height. Although whoever... More

Nearly reasonable underground parking, or a short 3walk from the train station, the international cuisine and excellent shopping are good for any budget. Montreux is historic but very trendy and lots of English speaking staff everywhere,

After our walk along the promenade to the chateau de chillon we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to pop up to vieux Montreux on our way back. It was a good hike up hill, to be rewarded with a beautiful view over Montreux and the lake. A must see from a different perspective

Small and cosy old city! Montreux is picturesque and it should be visited! Panoramic view of the lake

Suddenly an old part of a town that initially impresses you with a mix of lovely and ugly buildings. Rather high above the lake, old & intimate, with nice views.

We did enjoy the amazing views from the Vieille-Ville de Montreux. The winding narrow roads are lined with colourful old houses of all ages and styles. It seems to be the cultural heart of music, art and theatre for Montreux.

Montreux is just a dream, lovely place, don't miss it. Choose a nice day though, so you can have a stroll by the lake, roam around the old town and enjoy a glass of wine in one of the nice restaurants in the evening. Well worth a visit!

We cruised around the quainter part of Montreux and enjoyed the rustic, smaller homes and restaurants tucked into cobblestone streets. There are a few museums to visit but we opted to head to the lake for more viewing and coffee. It is a definite up Hill climb. Cardio anyone?

Its a hike uphill from the lake, and not architecturally unique. Provides a different perspective, and not (thankfully) particularly tourist oriented, but there are some hotels and restaurants up here.
