The old town of Zurich covers a relatively small area but never the less is very typical of most European cities. It has quaint streets, sidewalk cafes, beautiful old buildings and plenty of places to just sit and watch the people walk by. The majority...More

Relatively small old town area is well preserved with various historic buildings and good views from the Lindenplatz. This area is a pedestrianised zone and the lack of traffic makes it a pleasant oasis where one can stroll away from the bustle of adjacent downtown...More

Your tour will bring you to several very scenic places in Zurich, many very old structures, churches, shops, and walkways. The quality of your tour will be greatly enhanced by finding a local guide. Ours was an absolute delight and she provided many interesting details...More

Great place to walk around browsing in all the little shops, especially the little side streets. If you like watches, you can spend hours in all the different watch shops...

We are staying right in the middle of the old town in an apartment above cupcake affair. This area is awesome - so many restaurants to eat or drink at, many shops, interesting architecture and photo opportunities abound. It can be noisy at night with...More

Similar to other old town area where many shops, cafes and restaurants are packed in this area. Wear a good sneaker and enjoy walking. This place is in District 1, Tripadvisor location is incorrect.

This is a beautiful place for a fall walk. I loved all the different buildings. Only thing is almost everything is closed on Sunday’s.

We visited only on a five hour layover between flights but the train system from the airport makes it easy to make it into the city and walk through the Old Town. It is attractive with its cobblestone streets. However, there was very little going...More

One has to decide how many uphill diversions to take from the flat. There are plenty of winding pathways between the sets of old buildings Recommended for any visitors

I agree. I covered a fair bit of the city (not the lake) in about 1 1/2 hours.

You have direct trains to Zürich HB (central station). And it is next to the old town so you can go for 2h walk without problems. Everybody speaks English specially in the center. Don't worry.
