Zurich has several great churches, but this is my favourite, mostly for the crypt below the church itself and also of the incredible stained glass windows on display inside. Entry is 5 francs, which is very reasonable.

The Fraumunster is one of the oldest religious buildings dating back to 853 AD. The now simply decorated Protestant church has beautiful stained glass windows by Chagall and Giacometti. Mary's Chapel has the only remaining examples of early art. No photos allowed!

This church is still very active. The entrance fee is minimal, but you cannot take any pictures, even without the flash. They give you an individual audio guide which is thorough. Also, a booklet with a picture of the windows is for you to keep....More
We tried to see the church twice. The first time it was 4:00 and they were closed even though everything (including signs on the church) says they are open to 6:00. The second time we got there at 1:40 to find out they were closing...More
