One of many in Zurich

There are a lot of Churches in Zurich, they are all well worth the visit. We went with a tour group and was told interesting facts about the Church and design of it.

We were so fortunate to be in Zurich during the Zuri Fest - which happens only every 3 years. This church is right on the river (Hence Wasserkirche i.e.: water church) and we were able to watch a person on a tight rope and other fun things going on. This photo is of the entrance the person taking pic must... More

The Wasserkirche is a church built on a small island in the Limmat, situated between the two main churches of medieval Zürich, the Grossmünster and the Fraumünster, at the Limmatquai and the Münsterbrücke. It seems likely that the original building was used for cult meetings. The meetings were centered on a stone now located in the crypt of the church.... More

Wasserkirche(=Water Church) is located right next to River Limmat. Easy to reach when you are walking along River Side towards Lake Zürich and Tram Stop right there too. On one side of the Church you can find famous Zwingli Statue

Worth to visit if you want to experience the Zwingli / Lutherian spirit. Church is very focused on telling the word - with ist little interior there are only few other to focus on. Also nice, if you can hear a concert.

There was a reviewer complaining about their erratic opening, true but hey, they are not claiming to be a tourist attraction, nevertheless this church is essential in the understanding of Zurich history and even important as a judicial artifact. There is place of memorizing the Zurich martyrs Felix and Regula and their luckless servant Exuperantius, all of them had their... More

This is an almost hidden part of Zurichs history. Possibly because they damaged so much during the reformation and are a little embarassed... Zurichs original island church is not easy to find but worth taking a look at particularly in the crypt (on the right hand side when you walk in the stairs) Zurich, like Rome has two Legionaire matyrs... Quite a small Church - and very modern on the inside. The stained glass Windows by Giacometti are very dark. When we were here the it was raining and then it was very difficult to see any details which is a shame. Not much else to see than the Windows.

Having just walked the Niederhof and found the Grossmunster closed at 11:30Am on a Sunday , we were especially disappointed when we found the Wasserkirche closed as well. We witnessed any number of folks trying to get into the church only to find the doors locked and no explanation. Disconcerting to say the least!!!
