Vondelpark is sometimes called Amsterdam's Central Park, which is setting the bar a bit high - it is much, much smaller for a start. But it is a lovely, relaxed green space full of locals as well as tourists, and with plenty of water which, in turn, attracts plenty of birdlife.

Vondelpark is a charming green place in a very dense cityscape. It is free. You can walk or just sit and enjoy the sound of birds and lush greenery. Great spot for people watching.

It was a bit cold and damp but still pleasant to walk around as long as you watch out for the bikes. They have priority everywhere. Reasonably well maintained and like most of Amsterdam that we saw clean and litter free. Lots of newish planting of trees which was good to see.

It was nice to be away from crowds and enjoy this piece of green in Amsterdam. I'm sure it would be even prettier with flowers blooming.

We had little time in Amsterdam but wanted to see tulips and our daughter researched and we found them here! A lovely park, created well over 100+ years ago. Probably looks much the same and you can imagine horse drawn carriages and women with their prams enjoying this at the turn of the century. Lovely small lake with ducks. A... More

What a beautiful park! Whether you want to play basketball, soccer, whatever physical activity you prefer, there is more than enough space to do all that and more. The park is huge, green & beautiful. You can see many locals and tourists picnicking, or relaxing on a blanket. The park is well taken care of, clean (in most areas). Totally... More

This was the prettiest park I've ever been to! We rented bikes and took my 3yr old all around. There were a couple different playgrounds, tree house, and duck ponds. Absolutely stunning!

It is a good park in the city center. After long walking you can go there to lie down or sit and chill out a little bit. Good nature.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
