one is supposed to have a beer here and possibly some bitterballen; it most of the time is overcrowded and no better than any other pub

In Amsterdam, Brown Bars, are old dingy places that give you a great sense of history. This place is the gold standard for that. They've been serving beer here for 400 years and they know what they're doing! Stop in for a pint, and perhaps...More

Here it is always nice to go for a coffee at day time and a beer in the late afternoon or evening, especially Friday afternoon after work drinks

Great location on a busy square so the out door seating is excellent. As a brown bar it is worth a look at the history inside.

Interesting local bar with some very good beer choices. The seating outside is very crowded but we didn’t have a problem with finding seats inside.

Went to "standing" side. We didn't linger for hours. Pop in, grab a quick drink, peek around, use the bathroom and move on. That's about it. Other Brown Cafes have much more intimate vibe. This one's more like "Yes. Check. I went to Hoppe".
