Yes the church is sparse but the tour is well worth the 8 euro. Climbing the stairwell was very cool and each stop had a wonder story about the history and working of the bell tower. The culmination is the special views from the outdoor...More

Definitely a must do. If stairs aren't good for you, this isn't for you. 30 min. guided tour to the top. The guide stops at every level and tells a little history. The stairs do get narrower as you get to the top. Loved it!

Close proximity to the Ann Frank house. Tram stop is Westermarket. I had a lot of ancestors that were baptized here, so I wanted to see.

We booked a tower tour. Groups of six with a very good guide with excellent English. Lovely views from the balcony and an insight into the bell ringers' job. We also enjoyed the carillon which plays every Tuesday lunchtime

Having just popped in here to dodge the rain whilst waiting for our time slot for anne Frank haus we were pleasantly surprised. Although we never got to climb the tower we still managed to have a good look around the downstairs absorbing all the...More

The church interior is spare, like many others in Amsterdam. The tower climb, though, is what makes this an excellent destination in my book. In comparison to the tower climb at the Oude Kerk, if you had to do only one - do this one....More

Most of the churches in Amsterdam are not that impressive, but this one sure is. Right near the Ann Frank House, it is a landmark that can be seen from several canals away. Take a few minutes to stop and look inside.

This church has a great location, by the canal and is the most important Protestant church in the city. Also, has got a bell tower, that is, the Westerkerk Tower, which is the real pride of Amsterdam, a symbol of the city. We climbed the...More

Honestly, I have no idea. The church is large, historic with many layers of subject matter. How long you spend depends on your interests. Most folks spend less than one hour, but if you are keen to understand the meaning of... More
