The Amsterdam school of architecture is not particularly exciting or cutting edge to start with. Plus, as depicted in the museum, it was quite controversial. Further, the exhibits and the tour are pretty humdrum. I have seen some wonderful architecture museums around the world and...More

The innovations of the Amsterdam School of Architecture are interesting and unique. I think only architecture nerds will appreciate the tour. The tour was interesting but I think it could be more in-depth and show more examples of this style.

The newly opened expansion of Het Schip deepened the experience of this school of social architecture. The collection of furniture, light fixtures, and household goods was well laid out and the explanations were thorough. This was my fourth trip to Amsterdam in the past two...More

Interesting for the architecture here and in the environs, for the architecture and for the sociological background. Architects wanted working people to have beauty, functionality, a tower, and other benefits formerly reserved for the very wealthy.

The museum is very informative about the architects behind the social housing movement and the development of the housing in Amsterdam. Their inspiration and action puts some other European countries to shame over the provision of social housing. It was innovative at it's time and...More

Every year the Unseen Photography Festival takes place in Amsterdam. If you happen to be in The Netherlands this month, you cannot miss the photography exhibition at the Museum Het Schip. Even if the exhibition is small, the quality of the artworks, specially in terms...More
