The church itself was nicely built of Neo-Gothic design. At the time of our visit there, the area was holding the ElGreco Pentecost exhibition. Due to time constraints, we just toured around the church and leave for other tourist spots along the canal area.

We were fascinated by the soaring interior and were fortunate to get to see the El Greco Pentecost which was very well displayed. The film of his life was also interesting. Glad we came.

The Church itself is gorgeous, but there was no way ot learn about what we were seeing. No posted signes, no pamphlets or guidebooks, no audio guides or doscents. I still don't even know when the church was built! Skip this unless you are just deperate to get out of the rain.

Nice, impressive church. At that time we visited this church last year, we were able to get the access of the exhibits. And according to the information by the pictures displayed, it has been the venue of coronation ceremonies. A stunning church decors and wood carvings seen inside this Neo-Gothic Church.

I came to the New Church to explore the exhibit 90 years of Marilyn Monroe. I very much enjoyed the exhibit, it was beautiful! The film they show in the Cinema is super informative, I love learning about her life. The architecture of the church itself was also amazing. I love how much this city loves Marilyn, not only in... Nice church facade, but sadly unable to properly see it, it being closed on Sunday. There is an attached museum, also closed Sunday, currently exhibiting 90 years of Marilyn Monroe. Indeed church has huge banner advertising same. Find this decidedly odd, she hardly being a paragon of Christianity.

Nice church with a bit of odd exhibition to be in the church but it is well done, 90 years of ms monroe, the entrance fee is a high 16 euro but the exhibition is great and gives a nice input to the life and death of marilyn Lots of documents, dresses, you watch inserts from her famous movies, as... Didn't start well when we were informed that on top of the €120 we'd spent on museum cards, that they would also be adding a €9 surcharge to allow us to enter. The woman working at the cloakroom was almost comically rude, begrudgingly looking up from her smart phone to take our coats. Presumably she doesn't see much of that... More

I only visited as part of a walking tour; but I learned the history behind the building, it is a pleasant building- also it isn't new

The Nieuwe Kerk is a beautiful late-Gothic building, with some splendid chandeliers and a fine chancel. At the moment and for the next few months it houses an exhibition marking the 90th anniversary of the birth of Marilyn Monroe. I happened to be in Amsterdam in August of 1962 when the news broke of her death. In homage a Canadian... More
