I was impressed by the exhibit in that it was not based solely around the morbitity of the German occupation of the Netherlands. It provided insight into the choices people had to make in order to survive. Definitely an eye-opening experience that I am very appreciative to had the opportunity to see.

We stopped here on curiosity and spent about 30-45 minutes. There's an enormous amount of information but in a quick visit you'll understand the importance of this bit of history.

I wish we had allowed more time to absorb and enjoy this wonderful museum. It tells how the Dutch people coped throughout the WW2 years and the choices they had. There is an extraordinary amount of information here. It is well presented and will take you quite a long time to read and absorb. All the information is in Dutch... More

The Resistance Museum is a must-see if you want to learn about the hard and real choices the Dutch had to make during the Nazi occupation. As an American who regretfully is stuck with a current President who is both arguably psychotic (out of touch with reality, and comfortable with issuing propaganda that most of us call "fake news") and... An unexpectedly interesting trip around a small museum, which shows some of the history of the resistance in the Netherlands. It also shows an overview of what happened to the Dutch during WW2.

This is a must visit museum. Extremley well thought out museum which keeps you engaged. A truly vile and obscene period in recent history which is told with honesty and respect for the fallen. Those responsible for establishing the museum should be congratulated. You cannot fail to be moved on so many levels.

Museum was under renovation when we visited but still well worth the time. We spent several hours reviewing each section in depth and for history buffs, well worth the time. They had some, but not an extensive collection of actual artifacts. However, the explanatory exhibits arranged by themes made this a memorable and worthwhile stop to understand what it was... More

The museum offers a comprehensive and interactive tour through the history of the Netherlands during Nazi occupation, from 1940 until 1945. It's worth a visit for both tourists and locals (like myself), offering very intriguing stories and anecdotes about life in the Netherlands during World War 2!

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
