A great way to see the city to know where you might like to visit later. Relaxing and a better way to understand the culture of house boats and bicycles.

Having a tour or sitting by the side , Singel is amazing . Looking around and seeing the buildings of and different places on the sides . Love to sit around sunset.

We loved this beautiful, tree lined canal as we walked through Amsterdam. Our canal tour did not take us through this area, but we explored via foot to get to the Centrum.

Yet another great canal to see while on the canal cruises. As usual you see some amazing houses along the canal which are talked about on the running commentary of the boat PA system

Love this canal - much of it tree lined. From the flower market in the south, sweeping up the west side of the city there are numerous cafes, some with outside seating to watch the world go by.

Once again, you will go on this canal if you go on one of the canal boat tours. By this point, you will have gotten overwhelmed with pretty houses and history.

We spent a lot of our 3 day visit in this area-great by day and by night; close to the heart of things although not too busy.

This is one of the longer canals in Amsterdam. It was at the outer edge when it was constructed. There are many traditional houses alongside it. But beware of cyclists on the narrow roads: many are very inconsiderate to pedestrians.

Canal Ring (Grachtengordel)
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is as historically
significant as it is perennially popular. Whether
you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast,
shutterbug, or fashionista, odds are you’ll find the
Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the
Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get
lost in a moody meander and a key component to any
sightseeing trip to Amsterdam, this area's major draws

The menu is short and all the food is freshly made as ordered and presented with care. The day I visited, the cook was an artist and took extra trouble to serve a beautiful crepe. I don't remember the menu, but I know I... More
