This bar has a lovely cosy feel to it, reminds me of an old tavern. There is always such a huge selection of local and international beers available on draught and bottled. The staff were incredibly friendly, and more importantly knowledgable. Offering to taste any beers which we liked to sound of was a class touch. A must visit place... More

A friend recommended we seek out this bar and check out the selection, which was absolutely enormous. We holed up in early afternoon for a couple of pints and enjoyed our time here. Was fairly empty and I'm sure it turns into quite a party in the evening, but loved the quiet afternoon pint before setting out to sightsee. Friendly... More

Fantastic old place with a really good selection of beers. The interior is special with lots of fascinating details. Great place to have a drink as a couple or with a group of friends

Plenty of choice, knowlegable bar staff, customers focused on a good tasting experience. Don't look for fancy accessories, trendy decorations, flashy beer lights. It is all about good beer!

Visited here whilst on a weekend break. Pub is loacted very close to Dam square and easy to find. The selection of beer is huge, beer from all over the world. The pub is not huge so can get busy., friendly staff and would recommend whilst in Amsterdam

You don't come here for the ambience. It's one of the scruffiest looking bars in Amsterdam. OK let's call it shabby chic! You come here for beer. This ex-distillery building stocks at least eighteen draught craft beers and offers well over 250 bottled varieties. In terms of coals to Newcastle, I found myself drinking a Bristol brewed breakfast stout. (The last... More

Found the place on the internet although walked past a few times when visiting Amsterdam. Good Friday evening buzz with mature patronage. Great! No background music as conversations are buzzing and load enough giving a good vibe. Waiters somewhat snotty (kakkerig) and "aloof" and maybe let the experience down.

Fantastic range of Dutch and other beers on tap. Huge range in bottles. Sampled three on a lazy Monday afternoon but could easily have settled in for more! Nice atmosphere. A proper pub!

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
