Neighbourhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

I don't know why this is a thing. Maybe we went at the wrong time (evening). We didn't go inside as it was closed. The brewery next to it was also closing by the time we got there. We took a picture with it but otherwise, felt we sort of wasted our time making the trek to see the windmill. I would place this well down on your list of "to do" in Amsterdam.

Visiting a windmill is a must in Amsterdam and if you want a windmill that has a great pub underneath then this is the place to go. Tasty pub snacks and a great variety of beers. You can travel there by tram which is also a lovely experience.

My daughter really wanted to see a windmill and we were only in Amsterdam for a few days. I think it satisfied her request. You can’t go in, but it is a “real” windmill.

If you want to see a windmill and do not leave Amsterdam, you have to go to De Gooyer Windmill. There is a tram number 10, stop Hoogte Kadijk. Unfortunately, it is not accessible from the inside. There is a restaurant where you can refresh and enjoy. A nice place to take a photos.

This grand windmill, which has been successfully converted into a microbrewery, is just a liitle way from the city centre, and definitely worth a small detour. Zatte, a strong golden beer, is a good choice, or try the 5 beer sampler. You can sit outside with the windmill towering above. The beer's are strong so bear this in mind if you cycle here!

This is a large windmill in Amsterdam, easy to get to. The walk along the canal on a warm sunny was lovely. Disappointed to be told that the windmill was closed to the public as it is now private residence. So, if you do want to see inside a windmill, go to another one!

It is a windmill. If you like windmills you will like it, although one can't go inside from what I understand. Definitely worth a trip here but for the brewery associated with it rather than for the mill itself.

A stop definately worth a look of an original windmill. Of historic significance and still standing intact.
