- Andree NStaffordshire, United Kingdom191 contributionsGreat for foodies !Great mixed food hall with a brilliant variety of reasonably priced food types. Finding a table can be a challenge but once seated the experience is really good. Drinks were not overpriced either, would highly recommend.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 11, 2023
- Karen CRoyal Tunbridge Wells, United Kingdom114 contributionsGreat burgers in the food hallenWe were staying at the hotel next door so visited a couple of times. The shops were expensive and quite niche and wouldn’t bring me here again. However we did love the food Hallen! The Butcher burgers were amazing. The wait was quite long but it was worth it. They were juicy and really tasty. I’d say it was the best burger I’ve had!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 29, 2023

- BernRDanville, California551 contributionsA Good StartOn several previous trips to Europe, we typically gravitate towards town markets and food halls. Our first visit here. Luv the variety of cuisine and the ease in picking our choices. We were a party of 4 about to start a 3-week holiday. Luv the place. We will be back!Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten January 21, 2024
- Ben PriceLondon, United Kingdom13 contributionsLots of Food Options!Lots of great food options from all around the world and lots of seating available. Can get busy and feel slightly crowded but adds the experience. A tram station very close by and is easily accessible. The burger in the picture is from ‘the butcher’ stall and is prepared right in front of you.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten February 19, 2024
- Nat WLeicestershire, United Kingdom248 contributionsLovely atmosphere and spot for variety of lunch choicesWe came across this in the rain and wanted somewhere to have a look inside. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Very busy. Lots of choice for food from around the world. No gluten free though so I watched the family eating (story of my life anyway) and they then had some lovely looking desserts. Some shops too which had artistic vibes. Some lovely jewellery.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten April 5, 2024
- Para KapaAmsterdam, The Netherlands5 contributionsNiceWith its array of international food stalls and a couple of bars, it's a hub of excitement. Visiting on a bustling Saturday lunchtime meant it was packed, making finding a seat a bit of a challenge—but totally worth it! It's not your average fast-food center (but still fast-food); it's a lively spot bursting with flavor. It reminded me of a place I visited in Ghent not so long ago.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten April 30, 2024

Our visit to De Hallen was totally horrible due ridiculous airco. It was freezing cold. Shame because the Gin bar is nice. We would have loved to stay for some drinks. Obviously they want clients to leave so more people can buy food rather then sit and enjoy drinks.

We wanted to love this place but in the end it was a mediocre experience:
-the food hall is in one of the rooms of these halls but inexplicably in the smallest room. So we're tight with not enough tables. Then some will say that it is part of the street food experience but it is regrettable especially when the fall that crosses the site is larger than the food hall
We wait too long... first to order and then to be served.
Ordering is, by the way, a struggle... 3 times I queued to order, the person in front of me finally orders and I am told to wait and that we will be with me later.... ok but hey....
– it’s expensive as everything in Holland and spending EUR100 for 3 is not worth it.
I recommend the street market just behind and there is also an excellent ice cream parlour and an excellent Taiwanese shop 100 meters away... and if we want street food then right in front of the tram we have a cafe stand plus a stand that sells herring...

There are a lot of types of food and it is a big place but it is difficult to find place for sitting. If you go there in a moment that is crowded, it is possible that you finish stressed.
Everybody can choose between a lot of options, such as Italian, Vietnamese, local, etc.

I guess I had too expectations. A nice passage, some shops, a food market. I was expecting a more vibrant atmosphere. The food market offers various cuisines, which is nice. However, many of the restaurants feel a bit pricey and/or portions small.

De Hallen is not only but primarily a street food market.
A lot of different stands with really nice smelling food from al over the world.
I got poke bowl, and my friend got a pita with falafel. Really nice and freshly made.
We visited on a nice sunny sunday and their where a lot of pepole so a little hard to find a table, so if you can I would recommend visiting on a weekday.
The only bad thing is that their are in one end pigeons flying in and my friend is terrible scared of them and it seems very unsanitary.

Not sure if we were unlucky as we came on a Monday. It said here it was open from 11 but most of stores was still closed at 11 and food court did not open until 12.
There were not that many stores and the food court was really small so we did not wait.
A really let down experience.

Typical food hall experience with a slight Dutch flavour. Nothing wrong with it at all. Food choice was great and there is a pleasant buzzy atmosphere. Worth a trip although you should note that this is half a mile or so outside the main scenic spots in Amsterdam's canal rings.

Do they sell much gluten or milk free options?
Written September 7, 2019
I confess I didn't pay specific attention to this, but there was at least one vegetarian stall that seemed to be focused on healthy options, and there were definitely bunless burger options on some of the menus.
If you google food hallen you will easily find their website which has links to the various stalls with more info
