About
The centre for media, culture, fashion, food and crafts with a libary, hotel, cinema, local markt and foodhall. The building where once the first electric trams in Amsterdam were serviced has been granted a new life. In the former tram depot, an official monument built between 1902 and 1928, you now find De Hallen Amsterdam. Right in the middle of the 19th century district Amsterdam West.

- sabin215Sale, United Kingdom412 contributionsGreat food…outside on street market. The actual hall and food court was ok but what was excellent is actually the street market outside. And that’s what I am actually reviewing. Tons of food stall with a wide selection of food and drinks. All excellent value for money. We had cakes, hot sandwiches and flat bread. All excellent. Easily get a meal out of everything here. Definitely worth a walk around. Once you are inside the food hall. The price jumps up but quality doesn’t.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten April 6, 2023
- DiptychHampton, United Kingdom1,276 contributionsLunchtime optionTypical food hall experience with a slight Dutch flavour. Nothing wrong with it at all. Food choice was great and there is a pleasant buzzy atmosphere. Worth a trip although you should note that this is half a mile or so outside the main scenic spots in Amsterdam's canal rings.Visited April 2023Written April 17, 2023
- AJH21 contributionsGreat choice of foodEnjoyed our trip to the Food Hallen. Lots of choices of different foods, such as Mexican, Italian, Chinese, traditional Dutch. All the food we picked was delicious. It does get very busy & all the tables full but we were lucky enough to get seated.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten July 16, 2023
- Scott B100 contributionsGreat food hall!I love me a good food hall and this one is great. Lots of good vendors of many different types of food, plus a few bars and even a DJ. it does get a bit crowded and hard to find a seat sometimes. It’s a little out of the city center. Biking there is best but I think a tram goes nearby.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten August 13, 2023

Finding a table can be a challenge but once seated the experience is really good. Drinks were not overpriced either, would highly recommend.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 11, 2023

The shops were expensive and quite niche and wouldn’t bring me here again. However we did love the food Hallen! The Butcher burgers were amazing. The wait was quite long but it was worth it. They were juicy and really tasty. I’d say it was the best burger I’ve had!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 29, 2023

Can get busy and feel slightly crowded but adds the experience. A tram station very close by and is easily accessible. Really fun and cool place to visit with loads of international food stalls and a couple of bars. Went on a Saturday lunchtime so was as busy as it could possibly be so finding somewhere to sit was challenging but well worth a visit.

Visited Foodhallen, and we like the concept. Many small restaurants to cater your palet. Also, great beer desk with a friendly and informative guy to help you in choosing your beer.

Wow - what a place! Converted tram sheds (very stylishly done) and turned into a big food hall and bar area. About 20 different outlets with options for everyone - vegan, vegetarian, burgers, hotdogs, sushi, noodles, etc, etc. Lots of high bar tables with benches (probably not suitable for younger children) but busy so you’ll need to hover to grab one - they come up quick enough so won’t have to wait long. Food was excellent and, again, sizeable portions so although on the pricey side you get good value. There are a couple of bars serving alcoholic drinks (quite expensive) but am sure you could take your own drinks - not sure if it is allowed but couldn’t see how they could stop you. A real experience for eating out and if you are there during the day are other things at the venue to do - shops, cinema, exhibits.

There are a lot of types of food and it is a big place but it is difficult to find place for sitting. If you go there in a moment that is crowded, it is possible that you finish stressed.
Everybody can choose between a lot of options, such as Italian, Vietnamese, local, etc.

I confess I didn't pay specific attention to this, but there was at least one vegetarian stall that seemed to be focused on healthy options, and there were definitely bunless burger options on some of the menus.
If you google food hallen you will easily find their website which has links to the various stalls with more info
