Neighbourhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Anne Frank is possibly one of Amsterdam's most famous residents. This is due to the diary she produced during the Second World War and that you can visit the house where she and her family and others hid during the Nazi occupation.
There is a statue of her outside Westerkerk which is a church in the western part of the city as you head into the Jordaan area.
The statue is not very big but it is easy to find and a fitting tribute to the little girl who sadly did not survive the war.

I’ve taught about the Holocaust and read Anne Frank’s diary with many classes I have taught. The experience of walking these floors and experiencing her life this way was priceless. Try to secure tickets 2 months in advance. But don’t give up hope if you need to buy them the day of your visit. Make sure to be online right at 9 AM!

The Statue of Anne Frank is a nice little monument to a famous human being. A young girl, who, along with her family and many others, was rounded up by the Nazis, and eventually murdered by them. It is around the corner of the famous House where she lived her short life and where she wrote those diary entries.

This statue stands in tribute to Anne Frank, the young Jewish Dutch girl diarist murdered by the Nazis.
The statue is smaller than real life and shows Anne Frank as the young woman she never grew up to be. She is shown proudly standing with her hands on her back, with a little smile on her face. Not the most outstanding statue, but a worthy memorial.

Mari Andriessen (himself an anti-Nazi war hero) made this sculpture of Anne Frank when he was already well into his 70s. He made Anne look like a rather serious, resolute girl with her eyes wide open, a whole life ahead of her. Of course most onlookers know she died at the age of 15 of typhus in a German concentration camp just months before the end of WOII.

Nicely located at the market space at Wester Kerk near the Anne Frank House, is a humble sculpture of Anne Franks, the works of Dutch sculptor Mari Andriessen in 1975. Here you find Anne in dress, hands held behind her back, standing straight. The height of the sculpture allows you take photos next to Anne if interested.
Give the Anne Franks Statue a quick look-see before or after your visit to the Anne Frank House and/or Wester Kerk. Note that she can be rather busy during the day with many tourists interested in taking pictures with the statue. Just be patient if you want unobstructed pictures. Otherwise, visit her early in the morning when there are fewer people around.

It's a small statue just around the corner from the Anne Frank House. It's just a statue but is worth visiting. Just hope that some cockwomble doesn't park his scooter behind it to spoil any pictures

Nice to see the statue away from the Anne Frank House and away from the crowds. A simple yet poignant reminder of WWII and the strife of the Jewish population.

Within a few yards of Anne Frank’s House, this tiny but meaningful statue can be found. Pays homage to the incredible woman herself and flowers are still left at her feet.

What is the address of the house Ann lived in before she went into hiding? Looked online but cannot find any information on it.

Her original home was at 37 Merwedeplein. There's a nice statue of her in the Merwedeplein Square outside the apartment.
