This museum is not only inside but also outside. First you'll get a video introduction about the history of the Dutch marine from time to time and then you're ready to see the big collection of this museum. The most interesting is the submarine as you can go inside an see the narrow spaces with all the button etc. It's... More

Some old paintings of old ships in the beginning of this museum. If your not Dutch many of the famous captains will most probably elude you! Yet, it is an interesting time full of pirates, princess and sword fighting. However, the submarine is without a doubt the most beautiful asset of this museum. Climb in this sub and let the... More

Last time I visited this museum must be 20 years ago, I expected something a bit larger and more modern. It turned out to be a fantastic, very modern combination of different buildings and ships. You can easily spend most of the day there, also there are some good restaurants nearby. I hadn't planned to stay that long so I... More

We love finding these treasures! This museum is so well done, you won't want to miss any of it. I wasn't sure I could get my husband off the interactive features. They were so real.

My husband loves all things maritime but this was a confusing place. We entered into what we thought was the main exhibition area. They seemed to have a lot of the same thing in each area. Information in English was limited. Only after exiting the building did we discover there were other parts to the museum. We were on the... More

There is Submarine where you can go inside and see how is to be inside a submarine. Outside of standard tourist routes. Good restaurant is across the main road.

Enter the world of the Royal Dutch Navy and its history. It was a little overrated i think. You can visit a submarine and catch a glimpse of daily naval life.

We visited the Dutch Naval Museum in Den Helder today and had a wonderful time. As a family of 5 with three young children (13, 11 & 8) it is often difficult to find an attraction that appeals to the wide age span yet I would highly recommend this place to all. Located in the historical Naval Dockyard of the... More
