This was a great tour. I had read the book prior to my visit and it was amazing to be standing in the house where all of the events took place. Our tour guide was wonderful. She had survived World War 2 as a youth in the Netherlands. Very inspirational. The ten Boom family's faith was amazing as is their... More

Was an amazing experience walking through the hiding place. The tour guide really was interactive with the group and we really could visualise what it was like and what a amazing family the Ten Booms were

Knowing that I was going to visit this home with my wife, I read the book, The Hiding Place. When you first arrive, you hear the entire story in about 20 minutes...it was like the cliff notes to the book. Seeing the hidden compartment in real life and imagining 7 people crammed into that little space was truly humbling. Worth... More

If you are near Haarlem you should visit the Corrie ten Boom House. This is the home where Corrie and her family sacrificed to hide numerous Jews during WWII. Corrie miraculously survived sickness, imprisonment and a German concentration camp. Her faith in Jesus Christ helped her through her trials and forgiveness powered her through the remainder of her life. The... More

The tour in English was given by an older Dutch woman with a great memory for details, facts, figures, etc. Learned all about the ten Boom family, and how their faith in Jesus Christ compelled them to risk, and for some of them, ultimately lose their lives by helping God's chosen people escape the Nazi regime. The hiding place in... More

I learned to story of the TenBoom family as a child so this was a must see when we visited family in the Netherlands. It's an easy walk from the Haarlem train station, which you can easily reach from Amsterdam or Den Haag. A volunteer, who is an excellent storyteller, shared the story with us what was the family's living... More

We read The Hiding Place before going to Amsterdam and it made this stop a "must-do" while there. Haarlem is a wonderful little town and makes the trip even better. We traveled by train and tram from Amsterdam Centraal Station - easy thing to do. The home is open for visitors free of charge, although they will gladly take donations.... More

The ten Boom house is special for many reasons. It is the actual place where the ten Boom family hid Jews, who were in danger of dying at the hands of the Nazis. It is also a place of courage and hope. Here the family showed the courage to stand up for what you believe in, and for what your hope... More

A moving family story is recounted in authentic surroundings. I assume the experience depends on the guide. Mine felt more like a proselytizing experience than a historical rendition. It was sort of like being a "captive" audience.

This is a detailed tour by the dedicated volunteer guides. The smell and feel of the house all helps to become quite an evocative experience of the events that took place during the Second World War and the immense contribution of the Boom family. The religious talk commencing the experience introduces the history of the time but if, as an... More
