This museum is easily reached in Haarlem, and provides a comprehensive display of Dutch masters. We were surprised that there was little mention of Frans Hals painting of the 'Laughing Cavalier'.

We tried out this museum without really knowing much about Frans Hals. It turns out that not only is he one of the great 'Dutch Golden Age' artists but also that it is his 350 year celebration. The exhibition therefore contained additional works from the...More

The museum have a fantastic selection of Golden Age dutch art on loan from the Budapest Museum until mid February which was an extra treat. Most of the paintings were portraiture. Lovely rooms/fireplaces.
