Visit any day for the open spaces and the wonderful collection of medieval buildings around the square. Go on a Saturday for the markets. Taste and buy the cheeses and fresh fruits and vegetables. The focal point is the Church of St. Bavo

We were there on a rainy day. But that doesn't stop us and we ate the best fried fish and lots of sea-food like crazy. They are very delicious and cheap too. You will smell it from afar.! You must go there if you're in Holland!

Historic square in Haarlem. Lively Saturday market, with plenty of tasters. Visited on a beautiful sunny day. Restaurants and bars aplenty. Good atmosphere

Amazing fresh street food as well as bargains in the rest of market! Seafood truck was our fave - fresh calamari made to order and only €3 for 100g! Everything you need from sweets, kebabs, sea food etc. Highly recommend. Could of spent all day there! Lots of nice bars around the market too.

Beautiful small town with lots of history, we loved the beautiful square with lots of shops and cafes around. A great place to visit during the weekend when special market is seen.

I have been living in Amsterdam for a few months and I go to the Albert Cuyp Market in de Pijp on a regular basis. I was interested in seeing some other large markets with less tourists! This is a great one! My husband and I have a car, so it was only a 20 minute drive, but the GVB... More

The "grote markt" is a lively square with the city counsel building on one end, which has been added to over the centuries, and a number of nice restaurants and bars on the other end. A favourite of mine is Fortuyn.
