If you are waling and stubble on this place it might be worth to take a moment and check it out. One of the 12 defensive towers of Haarlem, only one left. Not a whole of information is available there in English.

On our walk around the centre, we came across this gate, which was pretty good in our view. Nothing extra-ordinary but worth a photo or two anyhow :)

I was surprised that the only remaining gate of Haarlem had little information in and around it for tourists other that the small sign on the east side. Also it's difficult to stand near and under the gate as the cyclists have the right of...More

This lovely former entrance gate to the city of Haarlem,is the only one left of 12 gates that provided entrance to the city of Haarlem. It was on the route from Amsterdam to Haarlem, and it is still standing proudly today. Not that much to...More

Taking into account that this is the only one of the 12 gates of Haarlem, it is a shame how dirty and smelly it is. The arrangement around it doesn't help much (many cars instead of a small park) but a little cleaning could do...More

Yes, I do agree that with the right angle the photo with this construction might look interesting, but actually there is nothing special about this building that attract my attention. Having in mind that it is right next to the exit from Haarlem towards Amsterdam...More

This is a beautiful poort in the heart of Haarlem surrounded by water. At night the lighting is spectacular as you drive past. The sister poort called the Haarlemer Poorg is in Amsterdam. It is wonderfully maintained and well worth finding especially in the evening.

Way more than a gate, one of the main attractions of the city. Majestic and huge, made from red bricks, it's the best spot from where to start a tour of this tiny and nice city.
