We expected to see the cheese making process, as advertised on their Facebook page and in all the reviews, whether this would have been by ourselves or with a presentation. First the door of the factory /museum gets closed to our face(we entered through the store) and we are told to wait, as another group is inside. We waited for about 5 min, the door was opened and we were waiting again for another door to open from the front room to the factory downstairs. It did not.... the explanation :only organized groups can enter.
This could have been communicated from the beginning, it would have saved our bad experience!

You can try out a myriad of cheeses, meet the cows and learn lots of cow facts. The cow stable is an amazing piece of modern facing technology. I doubt anyone will be able to try all the cheese available and then not buy any.

Considering where I was, I was disappointed. We went here last after all the other demos. Though I guess in comparison, this was free and the other demos we paid for. But it was extremely crowded, especially the demo, which wasn't a demo, but an explanation of how cheese is made. They no longer make cheese on site. There was tastings, but again, extremely crowded. Staff only speak English, but were very cheery and kind. They appear to love their job and know a lot

We visited the Cheese Factory Volendam on a bus tour from Amsterdam. First we watched a cheese making demonstration that was very interesting. After the demo we walked around the shop, tasted all the wonderful types of cheese and purchased some of our favorite type. Cheese galore...it was wonderful!

I had a one day gap in business meetings so decided to take the tour of the windmills, clog making and cheese making in Volendam
Very educational as well as fun, beautiful charming village. Some of my best pictures came from this region.
Let’s just say the wheel of Gouda cheese was a success at my house!

I visited this place with my family as part of an organised tour through Gray Line while we were on a recent city break to Amsterdam. What a waste of time. 5 minutes being patronised ( and seeing members of the tour be humiliated) on how they made cheese and then upstairs to see how much they could sell you. Volendam is next to Edam but the cheese they sell is Gouda (40 miles away) and made at Heerhugowaard 15 miles away nothing from Volendam as they would have you believe. The cheese graters and slicers they are keen to sell you cost half the price further up the street. A total con. Don't waste your time going here.

I learnt a lot about cheese here. The tour was detailed and well presented. The premises were clean and the cheese tasting was good.
The prices were reasonable and the staff packed the items well when informed that I will be bringing the items back to Singapore.

Great experience. When in a place, always try to explore and learn what the locals do best. Visiting this place is one good example when in Volendam.

It was really a good chance to see the demonstration how the cheese was made with the process flow. A good way to learn from the demonstration. for educational. The other side of the shop sells many type of cheese with different qualities and different prices. We have the chance to taste some of them and honestly speaking they tasted good.

Is all the cheese -raw cheese? I know that Edam cheese you can get pasteurized. I love the cheese but raw cheese and I do not agree. Which is very sad?

W had taken a day tour from Amsterdam and cheese factory was part of it. It is better to take a tour since it is an hour's drive from Amsterdam.

we just went from zaanse Schans, you HV to catch the train to Amsterdam Central, at the backside of the station there are busses...bus 316 goes straight to Volendam.

As SilvanaLF mentioned, there would be hardly any space to move with tourists flocking the store. I have also not seen any baby cribs available in the shop. It would be better to make your own arrangements.
