Best when the wind is blowing that way you can see the windmills in action. Original Monet was not expected.

We loved both the Museum and the Experience; very nicely laid out, well explained and especially the Verkade 'factory' was a great place to explore. Well worth the visit !!

The museum is part of the open air museum that is in Zaanse Schans. It has some interesting information on the history of the industries that were around the area. The Verkade biscuit part is very disappointing. A few machines which don't produce anything. I thought we were going to see the process of biscuits being made. There was some... More

This was a really good museum which gives a person some background information into the area and how the windmills were vital to the success of Amsterdam's growth. The audioguide was very useful. Entry is free with an Iamsterdam city card.

Visited the cafe, and the accessible toilets at this museum on our recent visit to zaanse schans. Cafe is more reasonably priced than others on the zs and sells delicious hot chocolate. It has some nice seats overlooking the fields and cycle routes. There are ramps to allow easy access to the museum and it is located next to some... More

I liked the look back into culture, history and food. Almost made me want to work for them. The videos were well done the family histories were interesting. I also liked the antique knick Naka they had .

Living in Zaandam and being a frequent visiter of museums around the globe, I found it a must to visit this museum. Well organised and a total overview of the life in the neighbourhood of Zaandam, a former industrial area north of Amsterdam. The Verkade exhibition gave lots of insights in the development of an industrialized bakery.

We were staying with friends who live in Holland and they took us here. It has been set up to preserve the heritage of the area and allow you to travel back in time a bit to see how they lived and how the windmills were so important to their way of life back then. This is a great way... More

I wouldn't call this worth the price to go in, but once you're inside, there are a few things of note. One is the part near the end with the biscuit-making set of machines, which is interesting to read about on the plaques. The other is that occasionally there's some kind of weird, cheesy horror movie flickering of lights for... More

The museum is hugely interesting with a really good audio tour. Make sure you are in the main body of the museum either on the hour or at 20 past or 20 to. The chocolate museum and exhibition next door is equally as well put together and interesting. I know we Brits are fussy about our tea, however I do... More
