This small city is so beautiful, clean and picturesque. The city gates are really stunning. I can't wait to go back!

If your like me you will research the towns and cities you visit prior to departure. My visit to Amersfoort, Holland was no different. The 'city' is surrounded (literally) in history. The 'city' has two walls and inner and outer defence wall/s. The 'city' gates reflect the defensive capabilities of the whole 'city'. Although not open to go inside on... More

Downtown amersfoort is an absolute must for tourist. The outer and inner wall show the history and trade wealth of the town.

The city gates of the old city center in Amersfoort are a great opportunity to get to know more about Amersfoort in the history. As these gates are different in function it is also a great place to take different pictures in Amersfoort. Look at the location (N/S/E/W)and of course the sun before taking a walk to make the greatest... More

It it my favorite place in Amersfoort, it is beautiful in every season and every time of a day. I like it at night when the lights are on.I like it in winter, when it is white with snow and in the summer when it is green.

It's a gate but a very beautiful gat, you pass and go into the city centers shopping area, Muurhuizen and other directions. The gate is certainly a showoff for the power of medieval Amersfoort. This was a town to take serious, no doubt.

It's a town gate obviously. Just stand in front of it, make a selfie and then watch how people walk through it on their daily business.

The city gates are astounding-- so old, and yet so beautifully maintained. Each gate is somewhat different.....so make sure you walk around (....less than an hour of comfortable strolling.....a bit longer if you can't help but stop and take photos at all the quaint houses, laneways and beautiful canals). The main gate is the most impressive -- so leave this... More

Nice entrance to the oldest part of the town. It's almost always busy there and there are tons of bikes parked next to the gates. Next to it you find very popular fries place and a statue of a city herald.
