Another church dedicated to Gertrudis van Nijvel of which there are four in Utrecht. Geertrui lived in the 7th century and according to legend starved herself to death.
The Gothic style Geertekerk was restored in the 1950s. The ruin was in a rather bad shape as the roof had disappeared and trees were growing on the church grounds. The 13th century tower is the oldest remaining part of the structure.
Every Sunday morning at 10:30 there is a service.
