Great trip to see a working windmill and learn about the history and mechanics of windmills. We were lucky to experience the grinding noises when the brakes are applied! The guides are all volunteers and very knowledgeable!!

The windmill is fun to see all the work they had to do to make flour and how the windmill worked and the low pay the workers received for doing the work.

This one of the several authentic old windmills in Gouda. It is very interesting to see it. Definitely, contributes to the atmosphere of the city.

This working windmill turns millstones to grind flour. Very cool seeing the whole thing turning. Go early because they close about 4PM. It's not open every day.

We rode our bicycles into Gouda and stopped at this working mill. There is a small entrance fee charged to enter the mill. An on-site shop sells its produce. Interesting and worth a visit.

We love visiting mills, especially working ones where you can buy flour, semolina, etc. In the UK they are invariably out-of-town so you can imagine our surprise to find two in the city! It's possible to enter the mill (€1.50 at the time of writing)...More

My five year old son and I have been reading a book called "de molen" about a family of millers at the Roode Leuuw Molen. He decided that we should visit the mill, meet the little boy, and see if they would let us climb...More
