I live 5 minutes walk away from Hortus. We love to take a walk with kids in the garden. There is always nice atmosphere. It's the best place to be with sunny day. For plants lovers there are lots lots of different and rare cultures.
Note: if you're visiting museums (which the gardens accept in NL, get a Museumkarte, giving you access to 40 museums, great value. Very central, very well laid out. Beautiful and peaceful. Open until 6pm.
Worth a visit. A nice mix of in- and outdoor gardens and a astronomy building + tour thrown in as well

The moment you walk in we were enchanted by the beauty. They have a lot and very big greenhouses and a highlight was the huge lotus leaves. There is a lot of very informative information and a great restaurant and shop.
Thousands of plants! Not all blooming, but that is nature, something unique will be. Good to see that when the Netherlands was a power they saw how nature if worked with could be beneficial. Some areas needed maintenance.
