The Kunsthal Rotterdam is one of the leading cultural institutions in the Netherlands. With over twenty exhibitions a year, the Kunsthal offers a programme that is dynamic and always surprising. The Kunsthal is continuously transforming, and with its regularly changing exhibitions able to offer crossovers between various art disciplines. From modern masters and contemporary art to forgotten cultures, photography, fashion and design. The Kunsthal's exhibition programme gives it its national scope and international allure. In its iconic building designed by Rem Koolhaas, the Kunsthal stands for three core values: art, culture and society. The Kunsthal is not a museum, nor does it wish to be. Not having its own collection gives the Kunsthal absolute freedom, and making optimum use of that freedom is where its strength lies. With a small team, a wide range of exhibitions and activities are realised with a high turnover rate for a diverse audience. This is what makes the Kunsthal different from other institutions in the museum sector.

They always have new expos whose details are freshly updated on the websites. A must-go for contemporary art + photography fans. Would recommend buying a museum card!

Been here a couple of times and there is always a good exhibition whenever I go. This museum often shows work of superb photographers or has an exhibition with a theme. Such as Dinosaurs / James Bond / Fashion. Current exhibitions include the work of Robert Mapplethorpe and paintings that should be categorized under Hyperrealism.

The Kunsthal is an interesting place to check out. Not your regular kind of museum and I recommend you do check online what they have on display, as they tend to have more niche displays as well

if you are the slightest interested in art, old or new, get going for the Kunsthal. its in the very epicentrum of many museums and right now you can see a great exhibition with Superealismus from the 70-is and until today. stunning in all aspects.

We especially went to see the exhibition "Hyperrealisme" about painted pictures that actually look like photographs. Other exhibitions in this hall didn't really interest is. So visiting this art hall really depends on the exhibition you want to visit. Nice walk from the station to the hall through a lovely park.

a beautiful museum on a beautiful location (at walking distance to visit other worthy Museum Boijmans). Cool architecture and often cool exhibitions. In recent years, for example, was the acclaimed oeuvre of Peter Lindberg and Jean Paul Gaultier. Right in 'now' and often beautiful presentations.

We visited the hyper realists exhibition and enjoyed it. Also Juul Deelders little art works were nice and the whole place is well organised and very pleasant to visit. When in Rotterdam you have to go there. Free for museumkaart holders.

This museum has a reputation for poor quality exhibitions. Its, mainly temporary and alternative, exhibitions often offers a cheap incoherent collection of things/pieces. It is no match for the near by Boymans Museum (which houses the a variety of classical and modern art and a fine restaurant) or Museum for Architecture.
