This is a charming museum with a very well displayed collection of mainly paintings and tapestries which belonged to a mayor of Antwerp who was a friend of Rubens. The admission charge includes a very comprehensive guide. Each exhibit is numbered and so easy to find in the guide. There is also a delightful courtyard garden. There are a couple... More

Perhaps because it was a private house, and shows what was a private collection, this museum conveys a sense of privileged access to a coherent, lovely, series of paintings. Everything seems to fit. Especially this year (2017) it is housing some treasures of the Royal Museum (shut for renovation). If you find the Rubens and Baroque maybe a tad overwhelming,... More

This old mayor's house contains an impressive collection of flemish painters, from the primitives till the baroque. It houses part of the Royal Arts Museum of Antwerp which is under restoration. Small, but a must.

The Rockox house fits in the line of 16th century museums in Antwerp. I found it less impressive than its competitors the Rubens house and the museum Mayer Van den Bergh, and also than the printing museum Plantin-Moretus, but still it has a fine painting collection in an old building with a good courtyard. Tourists should make sure to see... More

Situated away from the main high street, Rockox House provides further artwork from those found at Rubens House. Considering that Rockox was a lawyer and a friend of Rubens, his house illustrates his love for great artwork and other artistic forms. To expand your artistic leanings, visit Rockox House.

Enter into the 16-17th century interior of the house of the former mayor of Antwerp. Cosy museum still mostly untouched. the various temporary expositions always enrich the permanent collection and are always of te same time frame. A must see !
