Closed for renovation - but don't lose heart!

While the KMSK continues to be closed for renovation, several exhibits in other places around Antwerp are showing major parts of the museum's collection. For example, the MAS had... read more

Do you know the feeling of quietly absorbing an exhibit, wallowing in it and soaking up it's pleasure...then, particularly if you are English like me, feeling you should move on when when another visitor enters the gallery? I will admit that I didn't plan ahead but found myself luxuriating in The Royal Museum of Fine Arts on a public holiday... More

Asbestos has been found adding several months to the planning. As others said: A lot of paintings are on display in other city museums. I'm shure it will be fantastic when it opens again.

I didn't go in - it is closed for renovation until end 2017. Some of their paintings are on display in the Cathedral (as at Oct 2013) but very few, and all related to the theme of religion.

This museum is still being reworked. They just finished the stockroom so all these old paintings are safe. Now it's time to get the work done. Iagree with Charming_Karl and like to add not to forget to visit the neighbourhood anyway when you're in the mood for a good meal or a drink.

While the KMSK continues to be closed for renovation, several exhibits in other places around Antwerp are showing major parts of the museum's collection. For example, the MAS had many of the Flemish Primitives from the KMSK on display when we were in Antwerp in September. So if you do a little research before you come, you will be able... More

Currently undergoing internal renovation this collection [available for free now and again] is a superbly curated collection of Belgium - and lots of other Renaissance onwards art -- right up to Magritte et al. There is an original, precious Van Eyjk there and much more besides that shows not only the Flemish renaissance and thereafter its tradition, but the acuity... More
