Dominating the Sablon Square in the center of Brussels, this church was transformed from a chapel into a major gothic church starting in 1436 through the beginning of the 16th century, and truly exemplifies the Brabantine gothic style of architecture.

Gothic masterpiece Notre Dame du Sablon - Gothic masterpiece. Gothic is so...gothic. Gothic is full of history, secrets, and of course of courage along thousand of years. Simple visit it, and you will understand what I am saying.

Two levels of stained glass windows which is unusual though to be honest, they failed to brighten the place as it was dimly lit. Quiet organ music was playing. Excellent wood pulpit.

A very beautiful cathedral, with a special, very high architecture and a place where you feel very good.

Fabulous stained glass windows, if you go on Sunday you may hear choral practice before the Mass as we did. Also on Sunday there is an antique market in the adjacent square.

I marvel at how they built such beautiful buildings that have stood the test of time. Worth a look as well as walking around the park opposite the church

The Sablon is a lovely area of Brussels where you can easily spend half a day just walking around. When you do, be sure to pop into this beautiful gothic church.

One could easily pass by and say "another big church" but this Cathedral does have magnificent windows that seem to make it very, very special and worth a visit.

Not as much in the centre of places as other churches, so can be rather quiet. Awesome building and lovely works of art inside.
